Saint John's senior guard Patrick Butcher’s (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) big second half sparked SJU, following a 32-32 halftime tie, to an 88-58 win over Wisconsin-River Falls Nov. 26.
He tallied four points in the first half but scored 20 of his career-high 30 points (20 of his 26 second-half points) in the first 8:42 after halftime. Butcher made his first nine shots, including five three-pointers, in the second half and finished 11-for-13 from the field (6-for-7 from three-point range).
The Johnnies (2-2, 0-0 MIAC) begin conference play with a 3 p.m. home game against Saint Mary's this Saturday, Dec. 7, at Sexton Arena in Collegeville.
