Saint John's University junior golfer Brett Draxler (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) became the 10th Johnnie in school history to earn medalist honors at the MIAC Championship with a three-day total of 218 (+2), five shots ahead of Concordia-Moorhead's Landon Poss, as SJU ended its fall season by capturing the 2013 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championship with an eight-shot margin Oct. 5-7 at Bunker Hills G.C. (par 72) in Coon Rapids.

Draxler shot one-under par on the back nine Oct. 7 to finish with a 75 (+3) and earn the MIAC crown.

He totaled 24 strokes over par in eight rounds, an average of three-over par per round, since joining the SJU varsity squad after the SJU Fall Invitational Sept. 14-15. Draxler recorded a three-under par 69 as a member of SJU Blue in the tournament's final round.

With the team victory, the program's 11th conference title and first since 2010, SJU earns the conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship May 13-16 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. The national-tournament appearance will be the Johnnies' 14th in the last 15 seasons.
