Saint John’s senior Michael Coborn (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) recorded six points (2g/2a), including a hand (or foot) in both game-winning goals, as the Johnnies started their 2013 season with a pair of victories on new Haws Field over the weekend.

He tallied a goal and two assists, including the lone assist on the game-winning goal, in the 5-1 win over Minnesota-Morris Aug. 30. The two assists tied him with Eric Ross (1993-96) for the most in SJU history with 29. His goal at the 68:43 mark of the second half proved to be difference in the Johnnies' 1-0 win over Concordia (Wis.) the following day, Aug. 31. The goal was the 22nd of Coborn's career, which moved him into a tie for seventh in SJU history with John Tracy (1979-82) and Tyler Kodet (2005-08). He is now fifth all-time with 73 career points (22g/29a), 13 behind Tyler Bosch (2001-04) for fourth, and still needs one assist to become the Johnnies' all-time leader in that category.

The Johnnies begin a five-game road stretch this weekend in Iowa with a 3 p.m. match at Wartburg on Saturday, Sept. 7, in Waverly. SJU then travels to face Luther, in Decorah, for a 4 p.m. contest Sunday before returning home to Collegeville.
