Saint John’s senior Wade Powers (Hawick, Minn./New London-Spicer) won his second MIAC Outdoor title in the discus (2010) with a throw of 46.82 meters this past Saturday, May 12, in Moorhead. A Johnnie has now won the event at the MIAC Outdoor Championships each of the past four years, thanks to Griffin Hayes’ ’11 titles in 2009 and 2011.
He missed All-MIAC honors with a fourth-place finish in the shot put (14.64 meters) on Friday and claimed fourth in the hammer throw (50.40 meters) on Saturday.
Powers and the rest of the Johnnies return to action at the Wisconsin-La Crosse “Last-Chance” Qualifier this Thursday, May 17. The meet is scheduled for 4 p.m. in La Crosse, Wis.
