MIAC Release

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's senior defenseman Travis Brown (Otsego, Minn.) was named the MIAC Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week on Monday, Feb. 8.

He is the first SJU defenseman to receive the honor since Darryl Smoleroff '06 on Feb. 27, 2006.

Brown totaled six points (3g/3a) in SJU's three wins last week. He posted an assist in SJU's 5-2 non-conference win Feb. 3 at St. Scholastica and became the first Johnnie defenseman to record a hat trick since 1998 in the 4-2 non-conference victory Feb. 5 at Bethel. 

He then added two assists, his 39th and 40th career points, in Sunday's 8-2 win over Bethel in the home/MIAC opener.

SJU (3-1, 1-0 MIAC) hosts St. Scholastica for a 7 p.m. non-conference game this Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
