KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former Saint John's University wide receiver Evan Clark '17 will participate at the Kansas City Chiefs' rookie minicamp next week in Kansas City, Mo.

The Chiefs invited Clark following the conclusion of the NFL Draft on Saturday, April 28.

He will be the first Johnnie to participate with an NFL team since wide receiver Blake Elliott '03 signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2004.

A native of Phoenix, Clark participated in a local tryout March 23 with the Arizona Cardinals and worked out for scouts March 28 at the University of Minnesota's Pro Day. He graduated in December with a communication degree.

A two-time All-MIAC first-team and three-time D3football.com All-West Region honoree, Clark led SJU in all three receiving categories last fall for the second straight year. He appeared in 10 of the Johnnies' 11 games and caught 29 passes for 496 yards (17.1 avg.) and six touchdowns, and finished third on the team with 202 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.

His 86-yard touchdown reception Sept. 30 against Bethel was the fifth-longest pass play in program history. A dynamic kick returner, he completed his position trifecta by playing two games at defensive back in 2017. Clark recorded an interception and a pass breakup, which led to a teammate's interception return for a touchdown, Oct. 7.

Clark ended his career with 29 total touchdowns (23 receiving, four rushing, two kick returns), the 15th-most in school history, and tied for ninth in receiving touchdowns and 14th in receiving yards (1,701). Eighteen of Clark's 29 career touchdowns covered 25 yards or more, including 14 over 40 yards. His 1,185 career kick-return yards are good for second in school history.
