SJU Finishes Seventh at MIAC Indoor Championships

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's finished seventh out of 11 teams at the 2010 MIAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 6. St. Thomas won the title with a total of 163 points, followed by Hamline (156), Bethel (121.5) and Gustavus Adolphus (79.5).

Three Johnnies earned All-MIAC honors at the meet. Junior Andrew Norman (Maple Grove, Minn.) earned his third All-MIAC honor in the pole vault but first at the MIAC Indoor Championships with a second-place finish (4.50 meters).

Freshman Andrew Million (Lino Lakes, Minn./Totino-Grace) earned All-MIAC honors of his own with a third-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.56 meters.

Junior Dan Maxbauer (Traverse City, Mich./St. Francis) became the first Johnnie since 2003 to earn All-MIAC honors (top three) in the pentathlon with a third-place finish on Thursday.

SJU's distance medley relay team consisting of junior Jimmy Backes (Lakeville, Minn./South), senior Tyler Etheridge (Eau Claire, Wis./North), sophomore Ruairi Moynihan (Fargo, N.D./South) and senior Caleb Schwecke (Corcoran, Minn./Rockford) finished third with a time of 10:22.04.

Senior Josh Wallert (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team.
