COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - For the 12th time in 16 years, the Saint John's University football team was the top-ranked institution among NCAA Division III attendance leaders. SJU averaged 7,694 fans per game and attracted 46,161 spectators during six home games in 2008. SJU's average attendance of 7,694 per game outdistanced second-place Wisconsin-Whitewater at 5,387 fans per game.
Michigan claimed its 11th consecutive attendance title once again led Division I-A (FBS) in attendance by averaging 108,571 spectators per game, Appalachian State led Division I-AA (FCS) by averaging 25,161 spectators per game and Tuskegee (Ala.) led Division II by averaging 12,080 spectators per game.
As a conference, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) ranked first among Division III conferences for the fourth consecutive year with an average of 3,563 spectators per game. In 45 games this season, the MIAC attracted a total of 160,335 spectators.
SJU ended the 2008 season with an 8-3 overall record and a 6-2 record in the MIAC and made its 23rd postseason appearance (19th appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs).
