COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University seniors Jason Daly (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Brian Horst (Stillwater, Minn.), Levi Lowell (Stillwater, Minn.) and Chris Schultz (Coon Rapids, Minn.) were named to the 2008 All-MIAC men's soccer team Monday, Nov. 17. Daly, Lowell and Schultz were named to the first team, while Horst was named honorable mention. Senior Cam Christensen (Bismarck, N.D./St. Mary's) was named to the MIAC All-Sportsmanship team.
For the second consecutive season, Lowell led the Johnnies in scoring by totaling 25 points (9g/7a). In conference competition, Lowell finished in the top two in eight of the nine individual categories while leading the MIAC in shots (42), shots per game (4.67), points (22) and points per game (2.44).
A two-time team captain and two-time All-MIAC first-team selection, Daly tallied four
assists in four years as a Johnnie defender. Daly was also a three-time Academic All-District selection. A two-time All-MIAC first-team selection, Schultz ended his career with 16 points (4g/8a) in 65 games.
Horst ended his career with 33 points (9g/15a) following a 17-point (5g/7a) season in 2008.
A two-time Academic All-District selection, Christensen played in 14 games with an injured left knee this season and tallied three assists for the Johnnies.
The five Johnnies combined for 30 goals, 42 assists, 102 points and 13 game-winning goals in 209 career games played.
SJU ended the 2008 season with an 11-6-1 overall record and a 6-3-1 record in the MIAC, good for fourth place. SJU head coach Pat Haws ended his 31st season in Collegeville with a 336-129-48 (.702) career record and a 217-69-30 (.734) MIAC record.
