SARTELL, Minn. – No. 1 Saint John’s University erased a six-stroke deficit to win the 2007 SJU Fall Invitational by one stroke over Wis.-Eau Claire on Sunday, Sept. 16 at Blackberry Ridge G.C. in Sartell.
SJU shot a second-round total of 302 (+14) to finish with a two-day total of 617 (+41). Wis.-Eau Claire finished second with a two-day total of 618 (+42), followed by Gustavus Adolphus (619, +43), Saint John’s Blue (624, +48) and St. Cloud State (633, +57).
St. Cloud State’s Theo Frentzos earned medalist honors with a two-day total of 148 (+4) after shooting a three-under par 69 in the first round of action on Saturday at Greystone G.C. in Sauk Centre. Concordia’s Drew Dvorak finished second overall (149, +5), followed by Pete Wendt (150, +6) and Mason Milner (151, +7) of Wis.-Eau Claire.
Junior Joe Schoolmeesters (Litchfield, Minn.) and senior Clinton Dammann (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) finished tied for fifth (152, +8) and tied for eighth (153, +9), respectively, for the Johnnies.
The Johnnies will return to action next weekend at the Wis.-Eau Claire Invitational held at the Eau Claire C.C. on Sunday, Sept. 23 and Monday, Sept. 24.
